The Purpose of the Bluetooth
Bluetooth is a fast, automatic wireless connection that is supported by most modern electronic devices, such as cell phones and video game consoles. The purpose of Bluetooth is to eliminate wire connections.
-
Benefits
-
Unlike infrared signals commonly used by older television remotes, as long as you are within the suggested range, you can use a Bluetooth device without being directly in front of the device you're connected to.
Security
-
Because Bluetooth devices can connect to each other, each device must give the other permission before a connection is established. This prevents unwelcomed Bluetooth devices from connecting to your hardware.
-
Performance
-
As the Bluetooth technology improves, the speed in which the signal is transmitted becomes faster. As of October 2010, the most current Bluetooth, version 2.0, has a transfer speed of up to 3 Mbps (megabits per second). This is most beneficial to wireless gaming controls, microphones and other hardware that require a quick and stable connection.
