Zyflamend Safety

Zyflamend is an herbal supplement that allegedly reduces inflammation, treats cancer and prevents aging. The supplement includes extracts of Chinese goldthread and barberry, holy basil, green tea, ginger, Baikal skullcap, rosemary, hu zhang and oregano. Since Zyflamend is a dietary supplement, its safety has not been proven or FDA-tested.

  1. Considerations

    • Do not take Zyflamend if you are allergic or hypersensitive to any of the herbs in the supplement. Talk to your doctor before taking Zyflamend if you take prescription drugs, since the supplement may interfere with your medication. Always tell your doctor if you take Zyflamend or any other herbal medicines.

    Pregnant or Nursing Women

    • Women who are pregnant, nursing or considering pregnancy should not take Zyflamend without consulting their doctor, according to Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC).

    Misconceptions

    • Zyflamend should not be taken to cure, prevent or treat disease. In 2005, the FDA reprimanded Internet distributors of Zyflamend for illegally marketing the herbal supplement as a drug.
