Colorado State's Asbestos Guidelines
Asbestos has proven an exceptionally harmful material in work and residential environments. Colorado not only has its own asbestos inspection officers, but may call in federal agencies depending on the situation involved.

Agencies
-
The issue of asbestos in Colorado falls under the oversight of the state's Department of Public Health and the Environment. The department contains an Asbestos Compliance Assistance Group that distributes information as to the guidelines ordered by the state. They also offer certified inspectors who may be dispatched to scenes of potential danger.
Illegal Materials
-
Colorado has incrementally updated its banned asbestos materials list since the early 1970s. Asbestos as a wet or spray-on form of insulation is almost entirely prohibited. Spray-on forms of no more than one percent ACM (asbestos containing materials) may be usable. Colorado has established several categories of ACM that are outlawed entirely. They are roll-board, commercial paper, specialty paper, flooring felt, corrugated paper and any new forms of asbestos introduced into use.

Inspection
-
If you have a property that has an asbestos-related conflict, or one that has affected neighboring structures, Colorado stipulates that it is your obligation to call a state inspector. Depending on the issue at hand or the specific circumstances, Colorado may have to involve federal agencies in the process. These may include, but are not limited to OSHA (Occupational Safety and health Administration) and the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency).
