  1. Origins

    • In 1978, Unicord Corporation began making Westbury electric guitars. The guitars were produced until the early 1980s.

    Production

    • Westbury guitars were produced by the Matsumoko guitar factory in Japan. After a fire in the factory, Westbury guitars were made in Korea until 1982. All Unicord Corporation production stopped in 1985 when the company was bought by Korg.

    Name

    • Westbury electric guitars are named for the location of the original Unicord wholesale distribution center located in Westbury, New York.
