What is CCRC Certification?

CCRC certification refers to Canadian Certified Rehabilitation Counselor certification as defined by the Commission on Rehabilitative Counselor Certification (CRCC) based out of Schaumburg, Illinois. Its mission is to provide the highest quality service to disabled persons.

  1. Required Education

    • Educational requirements for applicants of CCRC certification are rigorous, and include having a master's degree in a related field, 600 rehabilitative internship hours, and a combination of educational and work-related experience. A crucial caveat is passing an in-depth CRC examination prior to being certified.

    Continuing Education

    • The CRCC also requires certification to be renewed every five years. Criteria for renewal include 100 clock hours of continuing education, with 10 of those hours focused on ethical practice. If the renewal applicant has not fulfilled these requirements, he is required to take the CRC exam again.

    Accreditation

    • The CRCC has been accredited for a significant time by the National Commission of Certifying Agencies, and requires its rehabilitative counselors to demonstrate sound moral character. They must also meet acceptable standards of excellence in practice and be devoted to their professions.
