Evasive driving courses teach drivers to be environmentally aware while driving.

Evasive driving training involves instruction in areas such as personal security awareness, transportation security and night driving. Security personnel, professional drivers and civilians use evasive driving training to improve safety and vehicle management in emergency situations.

  1. Scope

    • Evasive driver training covers accident avoidance, ramming techniques, protective driving and rapid decision making while operating a vehicle. Training extends to areas of security as well, focusing on escape driving, counter ambush tactical exercises, route planning, motorcade security and how to use a vehicle as a defensive weapon.

    Duration

    • Program length varies according to the depth of instruction and topics covered. For example, some organizations offer intensive, two-day evasive driving classes, while others provide seven-day comprehensive courses.

    Cost

    • As of October, 2010, a two-day evasive driving course offered by J.A. LaSorsa and Associates costs $850, while an extensive five-day course from Safehouse costs $3,100.
