HVAC Control Training

Heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) control training involves instruction in pneumatic control systems and advanced pneumatic control systems. Training is intended for individuals with professional backgrounds in HVAC systems.

  1. Basic

    • Basic HVAC control training concerns instruction in the principles of pneumatic control systems, terminology, calibration procedures for control systems, the "Systems Concept" of control systems, troubleshooting and schematic interpretation.

    Advanced

    • Advanced HVAC control training involves first reviewing the basic HVAC control devices and sequences, then receiving instruction augmented with control simulators. Training continues with further instruction in schematic reading and interpretation, and then finished with the retrofitting-to-improve process, in which older HVAC units receive pneumatic control system upgrades.

    Duration

    • Some courses, such as the basic and advanced Pneumatic HVAC Controls Operation and Calibration classes offered by Tempcon Inc. Training Seminars, last five days. Other Pneumatic HVAC Controls classes, such as the one offered by Industrial Controls, last two days.

    Cost

    • As of October 2010, the courses offered by Tempcon Inc. cost between $461 and $650 per person, depending on if a group rate is applied. Other programs, such as the Pneumatic HVAC Controls class offered by Industrial Controls, cost $600 per person as of October 2010.
