Bar-style kitchen islands are usually high enough to accommodate bar stools and create a space for eating and socializing in the kitchen. Bar-style kitchen islands can also be used as an extra space for food preparation.

Cupboard

Cupboard kitchen islands feature cupboards and drawers to provide additional storage and food prep space in small kitchens. Some cupboard kitchen islands include wine racks, hooks to hold kitchen utensils and add-on storage compartments for the side.

Concept kitchen islands are popular in industrial design and can include round, oval or multipurpose kitchen islands. Concept kitchen islands may include electronic functions, areas for plants or other innovative features. Concept kitchen islands are generally more expensive than bar-style or cupboard islands.
