The 1968 model year was a popular one for the Ford Mustang.

After being completely restyled for the 1967 model year, the 1968 Ford Mustang carried on with only minor changes. A '68 hardtop Mustang had an original MSRP of $2,707, according to NADA Guides.

  1. Styles

    • The 1968 Ford Mustang was available as a hardtop, a fastback and a convertible. According to Muscle Car Club, the hardtop was the most popular style of '68 Mustangs, with 249,447 produced.

    Engines

    • The base engine in the '68 Mustang was a 200-cubic-inch V6 that produced a meager 120 horsepower. Larger, V8 engines were optional for buyers seeking more power, including a 427-cubic-inch V8 that produced an impressive 390 horsepower. The most popular transmission choice was automatic, though Mustang buyers could opt for a three- or four-speed manual.

    Features

    • Rear defoggers and AM/FM radios were new options for the '68 Mustangs. Due to new Federal regulations, all '68 Mustangs featured front and rear side marker lights.
