Who Do You Contact Regarding Do Not Call Complaints?
If you receive unwanted telemarketing calls from companies, sign up with the National Do Not Call Registry. If you continue to hear from these companies after 31 days, file a complaint against them.

About the Registry

You can add your landlines and cell phone numbers to the Do Not Call list. If you change your mind, you can delete them. Your registration will not expire unless you remove it or the phone numbers are disconnected and reassigned. Telemarketers are required to search the list every 31 days and delete any restricted phone numbers. The registry says most but not all telemarketing calls will stop. Calls from political organizations, charities and telephone surveyors, as well as businesses with which you have a preexisting relationship, are unaffected by the restrictions of the registry.

To contact the National Do Not Call Registry, call 888-382-1222 or go online at donotcall.gov. You must have an email address if you sign up online or use the website for communication with the registry.

Complaints

If you receive a telemarketing call after the phone number has been on the National Do Not Call Registry for at least 31 days, you can file a complaint at the registry's website at donotcall.gov or by calling toll-free at 888-382-1222. You will need to provide the date that the company called you and the number that was called. The FTC says it does not resolve individual consumer problems. However, your complaint will help with an investigation of the company, which could lead to law enforcement action.

The National Do Not Call Registry prohibits businesses from selling goods and services by telephone, including soliciting consumers on behalf of third-party sellers. However, unless the consumer stops the calls, a company can make a telemarketing call if it has sold products or services to that person within the last 18 months.
