OSHA Hazmat Online Safety Course

OSHA's online Hazmat safety course is called the HAZWOPER Training course. This course provides information about hazardous-waste operations and emergency-response standards for individuals who work at potentially hazardous sites.

  1. 40-Hour Course

    • The government has mandated that all workers who have a job description consisting of Uncontrolled Hazardous Waste Operations take the 40-hour HAZWOPER course. This course is intended for clean-up operators, emergency response operations, and anyone handling, storing, or disposing of hazardous waste.

    24-Hour Course

    • Any employee who occasionally visits hazardous sites as part of his job description is required to complete the 24-hour HAZWOPER course. This course is a broader overview of issues dealing with hazardous-waste sites and what to do in emergency circumstances.

    8-Hour Course

    • In addition to the 24-hour and 40-hour training courses, OSHA also offers an 8-hour refresher course. This course is designed to provide updated and additional training to workers who have not taken the other courses in a while. This is especially important to workers who work with hazardous substances on a daily basis.
