Where Can I Find Plastic Drums & Barrels?

For more than two millennia, barrels have been used to transport and store goods. Originally, these barrels were made from wood. Today, plastic drums and barrels offer a cost-effective and durable alternative and can be purchased from a variety of vendors.

Traditional Retailers

Several traditional retailers carry plastic drums and barrels. Many home improvement stores, including Home Depot and Lowe's, carry plastic drum and barrels. Farm supply stores, such as Tractor Supply Company, also have these on hand. These barrels are most often used for composting and rainwater storage, and occasionally veer away from the traditional barrel shape to improve their usefulness.

Online Retailers

Several online retailers sell plastic drums and barrels, and they can be delivered to your door. Some, such as Yankee Containers, offer a variety of containers, from 5- to 55-gallon capacity. Some, such as Arizona Barrels, only offer sales within certain areas.

Used Barrels and Drums

One way to find a plastic drum or barrel at a reduced price is by purchasing a used barrel or drum. These can often be found at farm auctions or online, at eBay and Craigslist. However, when purchasing a used plastic barrel or drum, find out what the previous owner stored in it to ensure that it doesn't affect your use.
