Most Dallas-area consumers are free to choose electric providers.

Texas allowed deregulation of electricity providers, which means its residents do not have to use one specific provider for electric service. Provider and Price Comparison

The website Power to Choose, which is linked in the Resources section, allows consumers to find electricity providers and offerings in their area as well as reasons they might want to switch providers. Reasons to switch may be solely monetary or driven by a specific ideal, such as a company's renewal energy commitments. The various pricing options that are available are on the website.

New Provider Selection

Selecting an electricity provider on Power to Choose takes consumers to that provider's website to set up new or transferred electric service. The new provider will ask for some information to identify the correct address and electric meter, and the new service takes effect a few days later.
