Speedometer Effect in Photoshop

Speedometer Effect in Photoshop thumbnail
Speedometers are easy to re-create in Photoshop.

Adobe Photoshop, a raster-based photo editing program, allows users to create a variety of graphics using sophisticated drawing tools. You can create the appearance of a speedometer in Photoshop without extensive knowledge of the program.

  1. Function

    • Use a speedometer graphic to add visual interest to posters, websites or other graphic design projects.

    Procedure

    • Create a circle by selecting the ellipse tool on the main toolbar. Select "Outline" on the options palette. Add numbers using the text tool, found on the main toolbar. Draw a needle using the brush tool.

    Considerations

    • To animate the speedometer, use Adobe Fireworks, ImageReady, Flash or another animation software. A version of one of these programs typically is included in the Adobe Suite, or you can purchase one separately.
