Digital voice recorders offer more features than cassette voice recorders.

A digital tape recorder is also known as a digital voice recorder. Like its predecessor the standard or micro cassette recorderm it can record voice or sounds by turning on the record function and holding it near a sound. A digital voice recorder does not use cassette tapes. Instead, it stores the files in a digital format.

  1. File Management

    • Digital voice recorders store files in a digital format. These sound files can be transferred to a computer to be stored, organized, emailed or uploaded to the Internet. Specific models of digital voice recorders also offer file creation and management as part of the recorder.

    Extra Features

    • Some models of digital voice recorders also allow you to store and play music files known as MP3s. They also allow the creation of playlists. Other models offer accessory software to set up a dictation practice, and come with the ability to expand the memory with flash memory cards.

    Sound Quality

    • The general consensus is that a digital recording has better sound quality than a cassette tape recorder. The sound will also stay clear longer because there is no cassette tape that can wear out.
