Bring Your Passport

Always take a passport along when traveling outside of the United States. Even if you don't plan to venture into Canada, it's always a good idea to have a passport. Although you may board your ship in the United States, you will sail through Canadian waters on the way to Alaska. Most cruises now require passengers to have a passport.
Clothing and Outerwear

An umbrella is a good idea for rainy days. Comfortable clothes are advisable for a cruise. Jeans, slacks and shorts are all appropriate. You may want to pack one or two dressier outfits depending on the activities your cruise offers and your plans when in port. Flat, non-skid shoes are a good idea for walking on deck. Even in the summer months, you may encounter cool or rainy weather so pack a raincoat, umbrella, sweater and warm socks.

Binoculars are perfect on a cruise to view the shoreline and wildlife. A camera and/or video camera are must-haves to preserve those memorable moments. Bring extra memory cards, batteries, film and videotape in case you run low. By doing so, you avoid paying cruise ship prices. Bring binoculars for a close-up view of the shoreline and wildlife. Sunblock is a good idea to avoid a sunburn after spending hours on deck.
