Electrolux Vs. Viking
Electrolux and Viking are two well-known brands that produce home appliances. Both companies manufacture everything from cooking ranges to air filters. Choosing the brand that will fit your needs is an important decision. Does this Spark an idea?
-
History
-
Electrolux is a Swedish company that opened in 1918. Viking, on the other hand, was formed in 1984. Electrolux initially produced vacuum cleaners and slowly began to expand its product line. Viking began by producing kitchen ranges and also expanded its product line.
Features
-
Viking is considered to be the premier kitchen range company in the world, as they were the first company to introduce commercial grade kitchen ranges for home use. Viking specializes in freestanding ranges and range tops, while Electrolux specializes in induction ranges.
-
Price Range
-
A 30-inch natural gas freestanding range produced by Electrolux costs $2,199 dollars, as of October 2010. Due to the custom nature of Viking products, the company does not list prices on their website, as everything is priced from an individual quote.
Viking Products
-
Viking offers products that center around the kitchen. The company produces freestanding ranges, range tops, cook tops, warmer drawers, ovens, microwaves, kitchen ventilation equipment, refrigerators, wine cellars, dishwashers, garbage disposers, countertop appliances, cookware, cutlery and commercial restaurant equipment.
Electrolux Products
-
Electrolux also specializes in the production of kitchen equipment and appliances, but unlike Viking, they also produce other household appliances. They produce cook tops, ovens, range tops, warming drawers, kitchen ventilation equipment, trash compactors, dishwashers, wine storage, refrigerators and countertop appliances. Electrolux also produces washers, dryers, air filters and a whole line of vacuum cleaners. Additionally, Electrolux produces commercial restaurant equipment, and unlike Viking they also produce commercial laundry equipment.
Considerations
-
Both Viking and Electrolux produce commercial grade restaurant equipment, but Viking's domestic line is very closely modeled after their commercial line. This can sometimes be too much for people who are not experienced in the kitchen and can take some getting used to. It is also important to remember that Viking allows the customer to customize their purchase on a level that no other company in the business does. The customer can chose everything from color to trim, gas to electric, and everything in between.
