Proper Way to Tie Down a Motorcycle

Prevent further damage by tying down your bike.

Whether you are taking your race bikes to the track or your Trailer Queen to Sturgis, you want your bike to arrive in the same shape as when it departed.

Tie Downs

Fraying or damaged rope should not be used

Tie down your bike with quality cargo straps or strong rope. Damaged or undersized tie-downs will give way under stress.

Tie Down Points

Tie on to the frame rather than weaker accessories.

Secure the bike by tying off to the frame or other load-bearing parts of the bike. Do not tie off to accessories such as mirrors, blinkers, luggage or levers. The tie-off points need to be able to hold the whole weight of the bike without breaking

The Forks

Compress your forks as much as possible to prevent load shifting.

Compress the forks as much as possible. If the forks are able to travel the bike will shift every time you drive over a bump. This will put undo stress on your tie-downs and could break something or work something loose.
