From time to time in the life of a laptop computer, the display screen will fail or need to be replaced. You need to consider a few things before deciding whether or not your screen needs replacement.

Some common issues with laptop displays are dead pixels (a few dark or black spots on the screen), backlight issues (which causes a dimmer screen, or in some cases a completely dark screen) and screen flickering. Physical damage may also occur if the system is dropped. If any of these issues are too substantial to use the computer, consider replacing the screen.

Gateway laptops are sold with limited one-, two- or three-year warranties, which cover parts and labor. Parts can be mailed to users, or users can take their system to a service center. Extended limited warranties can also be purchased.
