Computer Based Training
Computer-based training, often referred to as CBT or WBT (web-based training), has replaced much of the old instructor-led training (ILT) in today's corporate training environment. CBT can often be delivered faster, more efficiently and more cheaply than ILT. In addition, CBT usually allows for self-paced, highly interactive learning.

CD or DVD
-
Training can be delivered via CD ROM or DVD. Computer-based training is often delivered by way of a CD or DVD with no instructor present. This means that access to the course is available to students at any time and at any location. Courses can be completed from home, in the office or even from a hotel room if your learner audience is particularly mobile.
Cost Savings
-
Computer-based training results in cost savings over ILT in many ways. The costs associated with instructors and printed material is reduced or eliminated. In an instructor-led learning environment the trainer must teach at a pace adjusted to the slowest students in the class. This means that other students must sit, listen and spend time on subject matter they already understand. This unproductive time is eliminated by CBT's self-paced learning.

Interactivity
-
Interactivity makes lessons interesting and fun. Lessons delivered through CBT can have interactive elements that increase student participation and therefore knowledge retention. Rather than having an instructor lecture to a class, with CBT students have access to audio and video, as well as computer activities that required participation to complete.
