Vinegar and Chlorine Mixture to Kill Mold

Chlorine bleach is an effective killer of mold around the house. It's possible to kill and treat mold with chlorine and vinegar, though you'll want to use the two products separately.

Warning

When chlorine bleach is mixed with vinegar or any cleaning product that contains vinegar, it releases chlorine gas, also called chloramines. This gas is toxic and may cause serious medical problems.

Bleach

Kill mold with a combination of 10 parts water to 1 part bleach. Wear protective gloves, and spray the mixture on the mold before using a scrub brush to scrub the mold. The bleach should not be rinsed away unless you treated food preparation items or items used by your pets or children.

Vinegar

Use vinegar as a mold killer by wiping the vinegar across the surface of any affected areas, and then rinsing the area with clean water.
