The Gateway MX3414 is a laptop computer running an AMD Turion 64 Mobile Technology TL-50 processor. This laptop features a 100 GB hard drive, 1 GB of DDR2 RAM expandable up to 2 GB, and a 14.1 inch WXGA TFT display.

Media Reader

Gateway's MX3414 features a 4-in-1 digital media manager for reading flash memory sticks. The media reader supports secure digital, memory stick, memory stick-pro and MMC card formats.

PCMCIA Expansion

The Gateway MX3414 supports Personal Computer Memory Card International Association (PCMCIA) expansion. This laptop features a type 1 card slot, which uses 3.3-millimeter cards, as well as a type II slot for 5.5-millimeter cards. Type 1 is ideal for Read Only Memory (ROM) and Random Access Memory (RAM) expansions, while type II is used mostly for modems and faxing, according to Webopedia. The laptop also features a CardBus port, an advanced version of previous PCMCIA standards.
