Doritos Taco Casserole With Evaporated Milk, Ground Beef and Green Chilies thumbnail

Making a Doritos taco casserole, a dish made of soups, picante sauce, green chilies, ground beef and Doritos chips, creates a flavorful dinner for a busy family or a party for friends. Does this Spark an idea?

  1. Make Soup Mixture

    • Heat one can of cream of chicken and mushroom soup, one can of evaporated milk, one jar of picante sauce -- hot or mild -- and one small can of chopped green chilies. Cook all of these ingredients to a slow simmer.

    Make Meat Mixture

    • Using a small skillet, brown 1 1/2 lbs. of ground beef with a medium-size chopped onion, then drain. Crush a bag of Doritos and use the crushed pieces to cover the bottom of a casserole dish. Place the ground beef and onion mixture on top of the crushed Doritos in the casserole dish.

    Combine All Ingredients

    • Pour the soup mixture on top of the Doritos, ground beef and onions, and cover the top of the casserole with 1 to 2 cups of shredded cheddar cheese. Bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit until all the cheese melts.

    Add Additional Ingredients

    • Experiment with this recipe by adding different flavors. Add dry taco seasoning mix, chopped bell peppers and chopped black olives to the meat mixture. In addition, bring out more flavor by covering the top of the casserole with a mixture of shredded Monterey Jack and cheddar cheeses.
