What Clothing Items to Pack for My Vacation

Consider destination and activities when packing for your vacation.

When packing for a vacation, it is important to bring the appropriate clothing items. Making sure you have the right clothing depends on where you're going and what you're doing on your vacation.

Climate

Consider the climate of your destination. For warmer climates, pack light clothing items, such as shorts, t-shirts, dresses, bathing suits and comfortable shoes for walking. For colder climates, pack a warm jacket, sweaters, jeans, boots and other warm items. For a moderate climate, bring clothes for both warm and cool weather, such as light jackets, shorts, sweaters and t-shirts.

Activities

Think about the activities you will be doing. For leisurely activities, pack clothes that are comfortable to wear throughout the day. For more physically intensive activities, such as hiking or swimming, pack the appropriate sports clothing, such as hiking shoes, flexible pants or shorts and a sport swimsuit.

Events

Think of the events you will attend. For formal events, pack a dress or a suit. For sightseeing or theme park visits where you will be walking for prolonged periods of time, pack loose fitting clothing that is comfortable.
