The Japanese have long been recognized for their intricate fashion sense and genetically pin-straight hair, which has paved the way for creating some iconic traditional hairstyles. Japanese children aren't exempt from this trend and there are a number of unique hairstyles to prove it.

Boys

Japanese boys tend to keep their hair short, especially if they are on a sports team. The short look is seen as more professional which in Japanese culture is an important impression to project.

Girls

Hairstyles for Japanese girls are often focused around the shape of their face and utilizes the straight and thin texture that their hair naturally has. Bangs extending outwards and covering a part of the face is a popular cut for girls. The traditional bob and straight cut bangs are also still in fashion today.

Schools

Many schools in Japan have certain dress codes which inhibits the students from wearing their hair in certain ways. Long hair in boys is prohibited in certain schools and girls are expected to wear plain, straight cut hairstyles.
