Where Is the USS Arizona Memorial?
The USS Arizona sank as a result of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor on the Hawaiian island of Oahu on December 7, 1941. The memorial sits above the rusted wreckage of the ship, where the remains of most of the sailors who died that day still rest.

Memorial
-
The ship and the memorial building that stands in the water above it honor the 1,177 crewmen of the USS Arizona who died along with others who lost their lives in the attack. The walls of the memorial show the names of the Arizona crewmen who died. Visitors to the memorial are quiet and respectful of the fact that they are standing over a place where the remains of the crewmen of the Arizona are entombed.
