  1. What Is Leave?

    • The Postal Service considers days taken for vacation or illness as part of an employee's leave of absence. The total amount of days allotted per year depends upon years of service.

    Eligibility

    • Both full-time and part-time employees are eligible for leave. Temporary or contractual employees cannot receive leave.

    Amount of Leave

    • For three years or less of service, employees are entitled to 13 days of leave per year. After four years, employees have 20 days of leave per year. Fifteen years of service for the Post Office entitles employees to 26 days of leave per year.
