The Mazda 3 S Sport Vs. the Mazda 3 I Sport

Those interested in sport compact cars may be interested in the 2011 Mazda 3. Available as a sedan or four-door hatchback, the Mazda 3 also comes in multiple stylings. The I Sport is the base model and the S Sport is the second most expensive Mazda 3 out of the five available classes.

    • The I Sport is powered by a 2-liter, dual-overhead cam, four-cylinder motor, which produces 148 horsepower. The S Sport uses a 2.5-liter, dual-overhead cam, four-cylinder motor, which produces 167 horsepower. Both motors use variable valve timing technology.

    • The I Sport comes as an automatic or five-speed transmission while the S Sport may be automatic or a six-speed. The I Sport uses 16-inch steel wheels compared with the 17-inch aluminum-alloy wheels stock on the S Sport.

    • The 2011 Mazda 3 I Sport has a manufacturer's suggested retail price of $16,355 base and, depending on options, retails for up to $17,205. The S Sport starts at $19,185 and costs $19,985 fully loaded.
