Windows Live Messenger Audio Problems

Windows Live Messenger is a software program provided free by Microsoft. It allows you to carry out text-based Instant Messaging (IM) conversations with your friends and also make free voice and video calls over the Internet.

The most likely audio problems to occur are that you are unable to hear your friends when you call them via the software, or that they are unable to hear you. On the "Tools" menu in Live Messenger, you use the "audio and video setup" option to configure your settings.

Troubleshooting

Within the "audio and video setup" menu, you need to ensure that the correct input and output devices for audio have been selected. For example, if you are using a Webcam with an integrated microphone, you will need to change your input device to your Webcam rather than the microphone input on the computer.
Once you are sure that the devices are set correctly, you will be able to run a test within the same menu, adjusting the volume to the desired level.
