Use of Computers in Fashion Designing
Fashion designers can use computers to construct patterns, design clothing, and create collections. Using computer-aided design (CAD) programs lets designers experiment and see the end result without having to source and create the garment. Designs in CAD can be two-dimensional or three-dimensional.

Computer Aided Design Software
-
Computer-aided design software is used to create pieces of clothing as part of a collection. Applications such as StyleDraper let designers add fabrics to existing models. This lets them create multiple samples without having to actually source the fabric physically. This application is very effective for sales presentations as well as for the creative process.
Fashion Management Software
-
There is a range of fashion-management software for the business side of fashion. Microsoft Office suite, including Excel and Powerpoint, though, encompass much of what is needed for spreadsheets, planning and presentations. Adobe Photoshop and InDesign are used to create marketing materials.

Manufacturing and Production Software
-
Manufacturing and production software is used to create electronic files for machining operations to create the fabric and/or garments. The programs convey information to the manufacturer such as the material, stitch types, dimensions and any other design specifications. The software TAPS: Total Apparel Production Software is widely used to make production communication simple.
