How to Buy a Deer Cam
A deer cam, also known as a trail camera, is designed to allow photos or movies to be made of animals in their natural habitat. Comparison shopping and making some good decisions that fit your needs are key to getting the right camera.

Types
-
Three basic types of trail cameras are available on the market, and you will have to decide which one meets your needs best. First is the basic film camera that takes still pictures, usually with flash. Second is a digital camera with infrared sensors, and third is a digital camera that may also use flash.
Flash
-
Whether to use flash or not is cause for debate. Some feel flash spooks the animals and discourages them from returning to the site, which is not good for hunters. Others feel this is not a justified fear and have examples of animals not being too spooked by flash use. Infrared cameras make the debate moot.

Compare
-
A general rule in cameras of any kind is that you get what you pay for. Scrimping on cost, quality or features is usually not a good idea. Get the best quality you can afford and then try to find that best price.
