Diploma in Teacher Training Education
Teachers who work in the K-12 levels usually have a bachelor's degree or master's degree and appropriate certification. To instruct teachers, or become a teacher educator, more advanced training is necessary.

Teacher Education
-
In the same way that prospective teachers in bachelor's and master's programs in education apply themselves to understanding how students learn, teacher educators study how teachers learn to become professional educators.
Graduate Study
-
Teacher educators usually hold a Ph.D. or Ed.D. (Doctorate of Education). Anyone who teaches in an education department likely will encounter future educators, school counselors and administrators in the classroom. Specialization areas for doctoral study include curriculum and instruction, educational research methodology and content area specializations including English education and social studies education.
Interdisciplinary programs are also available, combining education courses with courses in psychology, sociology and other fields. Master's students may earn graduate certificates, the equivalent of a minor field, in teacher education, educational research methods and similar areas. Diplomas are awarded upon graduation.
-
Coursework
-
Coursework for teacher educators may include classes on curriculum for teacher training, educational research methods, courses in educational ethics, educational policy, educational leadership and courses in the sociological, psychological and historical issues related to classroom teaching.
