The 3500 pickup trucks built by Chevrolet in 1993 were C or K versions, Cheyennes and Silverados, with a choice of regular-cab, crew-cab and extended-cab versions. The 3500 had a base gasoline engine, but another gas engine and a choice of diesel engines were also options that year.

Engine

The 1993 standard engine was a 5.7-liter V8, which came on both the K3500 and C3500 models. (A V8 has eight cylinders arranged in two banks at an angle to each other.) Also offered in 1993 were other gas and diesel engines. The gas engine option was the 7.4-liter V8 gasoline engine in both the K3500 and C3500 trims. A diesel engine of 6.2-liter displacement, a turbo engine of 6.6 liters and a turbo engine of 6.5 liters were also offered as options in 1993.

The bore and stroke of the base engine was 4 inches by 3.48 inches, and the engine used electronic fuel injection from a 34-gallon-capacity fuel tank.

Transmission

The 1993 trucks came in either rear-wheel or four-wheel drive. The four-wheel-drive trucks were the K3500 models, and the C3500 models were rear-wheel-drive. The standard transmission was a five-speed manual transmission with overdrive, but four-speed automatic transmission with overdrive was an option.

Dimensions

The regular-cab styles were 212 inches long, 94.2 inches wide and 75.5 inches high. The extended-cab trims were 237 inches long, 92.4 inches wide and 75.6 inches high.

For these two versions, the legroom was 41.7 inches, the shoulder room 66 inches, the hip room 60.5 inches and the headroom 40 inches. The extended-cab and regular-cab versions sat three people and had a maximum towing capacity of 10,000 pounds, with a max payload of 3,910 to 4,019 pounds.

The crew-cab styles sat six people with four doors. The cab of the K3500 was more spacious than the C3500. In front, the legroom was 41.7 inches, the shoulder room 66 inches, the hip room 60.5 inches and the headroom at least 40 inches. The minimum measurements in the rear seats were a legroom of 32.4 inches, a shoulder room of 65.4 inches, a hip room of 59.6 inches and a headroom of 39.9 inches. The crew cabs sat six people and had a maximum towing capacity of 9,000 to 9,500 pounds, with a max payload of 3,843 to 3,566 pounds.

Performance

The base 5.7-liter V8 gasoline engine produced 190 horsepower at 4,000 engine revolutions per minute and 300 foot-pounds of torque at 2,400 rpm. The other gasoline option was a 7.4-liter V8 with 230 hp at 3,600 rpm and 385 foot-pounds of torque at 1,600 rpm.

The diesel engine of 6.2 liters produced 150 hp at 3,500 rpm and 280 foot-pounds at 2,000 rpm. The 6.5-liter turbo diesel had 190 hp at 3,400 rpm and 380 foot-pounds at 1,700 rpm, and the 6.6-liter turbo diesel produced the same power and torque as the 6.5-liter.
