How Long Do I Boil Sweet Corn?

Time

Boil husked sweet corn for about 4 minutes. Alternately, steam it for 7 minutes by placing it in a pot of boiling water and covering with a lid.

Placement

If boiling, lay the husked ears side-by-side in a large pan, adding 2 or 3 quarts of water. If steaming, place the ears upright in 1 1/2 inches of water.

Helpful Hint

Add up to 3 tbsp. of sugar to the cooking water before boiling or steaming. This will ensure that the corn remains sweet.
