Information About the Burgundy Belle Red Maple Tree

The burgundy belle red maple (Acer rubrum 'Magnificent Magenta'), also known as the swamp maple and scarlet maple, is a native tree to northern Illinois. This tree originated in Kansas and has a lifespan of approximately 80 years.

Characteristics

The burgundy belle red maple tree grows to heights of 50 feet with branches spreading to 40 feet in width. It flourishes in the spring with red flowers, which turn dark red in the fall. The red maple cultivates red or black seeds that resemble wings.

Growing Conditions

Burgundy belle red maple trees develop at a medium rate of speed. A low-maintenance tree, it requires pruning only in the summer. An ideal growing condition is lightly acidic soil with plenty of sun. It needs average to wet soil to thrive and can withstand some forms of pollution but prefers shelter from harsh elements.
