History of Barbie Ornaments

A number of children enjoy playing with Barbie dolls as they grow up. Purchasing Christmas ornaments for both young and older women can provide lasting memories of childhood, with the ornaments serving as a reminder of the toys of their youth.

Origin

Hallmark introduced Barbie Christmas ornaments in 1993. The company releases new ornaments each year that resemble that year's Christmas Barbie doll, as well as ornaments that resemble collectible dolls from previous years. Although the ornaments are different each year, a number of themes have similar designs.

Types

As of 2010, the Barbie ornament collection has over 100 different ornaments in production. In addition to creating ornaments to match each year's Holiday Barbie, Hallmark also manufactures ornaments of vintage and collectible Barbie dolls, such as a replica of the first Barbie, the Barbie Dolls of the World and the Celebration Barbie Series.

Specialty Ornaments

In addition to the Holiday, Collection and the Barbie Dolls of the World series, Hallmark produces specialty ornaments, with some that include miniature accessories. Past versions of the individual Barbie Ornaments include the Harley Davidson Barbie, the Barbie Angel and the Millennium Barbie. Miniature ornaments are also available resembling accessories like Barbie's dog and purses. A Shopping for Shoes ornament is also available.
