Pro-Recycling Facts
Instead of throwing things away, we can reuse them by recycling. By recycling, we are taking trash away from landfills and creating new products. This not only saves our environment locally, but globally, and creates many benefits to the earth and our wallets.
-
Recycling Prevents Pollution
-
By recycling, new products are not being manufactured, which means the environment is saved from the pollution produced by factories. Recycling also reduces greenhouse emissions which are known to have an effect on climate change.
Recycling Reduces the Need for Landfills and Incinerators
-
By recycling, our trash is not taking up more precious land in landfills, dumped at sea or burning chemicals into our atmosphere through incineration.
-
Recycling Creates New Jobs
-
When we recycle, we create jobs for people who are employed to recycle waste and those who are employed to create new products from recycled materials. Additionally, this protects people's jobs in the U.S. from being outsourced abroad, because recycled materials won't be taken to another country to be reproduced.
Recycling Sustains the Environment
-
When we recycle, we sustain the environment by conserving our natural resources such as trees, water and other minerals. When we conserve these resources, we are helping to create a richer and healthier environment for future generations.
Recycling Saves Money
-
When we recycle we save energy, which in turn saves money. Additionally, recycled products cost less than non-recycled items.
