Before buying a TV you need to consider many factors besides cost.

TVs sell at different prices ranging from a few hundred dollars to several thousand dollars depending on the screen size, brands and features.

Types of TV

The digital TV sets include; plasma TVs, LCDs and high-definition (HD-TV). LCD and plasma look very similar but they have different picture characteristics and uses different technologies. Plasma sets are only available in screen sizes more than 42 inches. LCD and plasma sets may be HD-TV already but not all of them are. The digital sets have a slim design, less reflection and have flat panel screens..

Screen Size

The size of the screen to be purchased will depend on how much you are willing to pay and the viewing distance available in your room. Typically, For example a 40-inch to 47-inch screen will require at least five feet viewing distance.

Screen Resolution

Resolution is the number of picture elements or pixels a screen contains. Higher resolution sets have the potential to display finer details of the picture than low resolution sets. A 1080p resolution set can display up to 1920x1080 pixels while a 720p set displays 1366x768, 1280x720 or 1024x768 pixels.
