Problems Importing Sound in Flash 8

Problems Importing Sound in Flash 8 thumbnail
Flash 8 imported sounds have certain limitations worth noting

Before sounds can be used in an animation in Flash 8, they first need to be made available to the Flash application by importing them. Once imported, the sound will have been added to the library and can be referenced inside the Flash 8 application. Some limitations do exist for imported sounds in Flash 8.

  1. Use of Sound Objects

    • In order to control the sounds throughout the flash movie, the sounds must be used inside sound objects. Also, these sound objects have to be created within empty movie clips and then linked with the sound objects. This is because you cannot individually control sounds in Flash 8.

    Playing Different Sounds

    • Flash 8 has the limitation of allowing only up to 8 different sounds to be played simultaneously.

    ActionScript Limitations

    • Because the "Linkage" pop-up associated with imported sounds only allows for one action, you cannot use ActionScript on shared libraries' sound files. That means you cannot, for example, attach a sound in a swf file format and reference it in another swf movie clip.
