Advice on Stock Market Investing for Kids
Investing is a complicated topic that many children are never taught. When it comes to finance, the earlier the lessons begin, the better. Complicated topics, such as investing in the stock market, can be made kid-friendly, interesting and fun for your children.
-
Take it Slow
-
When you start introducing your child to the stock market and investing, take it slow. Be prepared to answer a lot of questions and explain the concept of owning a piece of a company and how that piece can be bought and sold.
Make it Familiar
-
To make investing familiar for your child, show them companies on the stock exchange that are recognizable to them, such as McDonald's or the Walt Disney Co. When it is time to begin investing, suggest companies the child knows and the family utilizes.
-
Make it a Game
-
You may also utilize an online trading game to educate your child before it comes time to invest real money. This makes education fun and keeps them (or you) from losing money in the process of learning.
