The California Chamber of Commerce commonly participates in judicial debates regarding interpretation of labor laws. The Chamber regularly submits friend of the court briefs stating its stand on certain labor law issues.

Personal Liability For Retaliation

In 2008, the California Supreme Court gave supervisors immunity from personal liability regarding retaliation lawsuits. The Chamber had submitted a friend of the court brief arguing the court to rule in this way.
Permanent Disability Rating System

The Chamber supported SB 899 in 2004, which reformed California's worker compensation system. The bill changed how the system determines level of injury and amount of disability assigned to an injured worker.

Employer Liability for Permanent Disability

The Chamber supported a ruling by the Third District Court of Appeal in September, 2006, which stated that employer liability should be calculated using a percentage-based formula.
