What is Variable Steam on a Rowenta Iron?

Rowenta irons with variable steam control are a far cry from those used by our great grandparents.

The variable steam control on a Rowenta iron allows the user to increase or decrease the amount of steam being produced according to the fabric and the ironing temperature selected.

Using Variable Steam Control

When ironing thick fabrics which require the iron to be set to a high temperature, the control dial should be turned to a high setting to increase the amount of steam being produced. In the case of delicate fabrics requiring a lower temperature, the steam control dial should be turned to a low setting.

Steam Trigger

When a low ironing temperature is combined with a low setting on the steam control dial, you should also intermittently press the steam trigger which lies just under the handle. If you do this several times when ironing, it should stop water drops falling on the clothes along with the steam.

Start With a Low Temperature

The most efficient way to use the steam volume control is to start with clothes which require just a low temperature and small amount of steam, increasing to those which need a high temperature and large volume of steam.
