Spa Mud
-
The mud used for mud baths at spas differs from the mud created outside your home, says Skin Treatments World. The mud the spas use is found all over the world in nutrient rich places. The infused minerals and proteins in this mud are known to help heal skin ailments like chronic dry skin and eczema. The enriched spa mud helps to moisturize and protect chapped or damaged skin.
Spa Treatment
-
The mud can be added to the body as you lie down in a spa bed. Skin Treatments World says that spa attendants will wrap you in aluminum foil, or something similar, to keep the mud from running and to help the mud penetrate into the layers of your skin. However, there is an alternative. Some spas have an actual pool of heated mud that you are able to "bathe" and move around in. After the initial treatment, many spas will follow up with a rinsing and an oil massage to carry the nutrients from the mud deep into the skin.

Local Spas
-
Since all spas may not have the proper mud to do such a treatment, it may be beneficial to call local spas in your area. Larger cities like New York and Los Angeles are known for treating celebrity clients with these luxury treatments. Once you find a spa, it may help to continue to go for the treatment. Mud treatments are claimed to have positive long-term effects for the skin when repeated.
