The Dallas area has a number of probate courts to choose from. There are three probate courts for Dallas County, all of which are located in the Dallas County Records Building at 500 Main Street. Based on 2010 prices, Dallas County residents must pay $226 for a probate application. Next-door Tarrant County's probate courts are located at the central courthouse at 100 Weatherford, Fort Worth and charge $253 for an application. Other nearby suburban counties including Collin, Rockwall and Denton handle probate procedures at their respective courthouses.
Probate Lawyers

Dallas-area residents have multiple options for choosing probate lawyers. Dozens of individual lawyers and firms specializing in probate and estate law make their homes in the region. The Dallas Bar Association offers lists of estate lawyers for the general public and can help individuals find an appropriate lawyer. In exchange for a $20 fee, individuals can participate in their Lawyer Referral Service, which covers wills, estates and probates.

Texas, like many other states, posts its estate and probate law online. State probate law is similar to that of many other regions. However, Texans are not allowed to probate once four years has passed since the death of the individual.
