2002 Mustang Cobra Engine Specs

The Ford Mustang first rolled from the production line in 1964.

Because the 2003 Mustang Cobra rolled into dealer showrooms in June 2002, the 2002 Mustang Cobra never saw daylight in the U.S. About 100 models of the 2002 Cobra exist: built for Australians with a right-hand drive, side-marker lights and an additional set of fog lights.

Standard Engine

Cobras come with two engines in different sizes. The standard version is a 3.8-liter, V-6 with 193 horsepower at 5,500 revolutions per minute (rpm) and 228 foot-pounds of torque at 2,800 rpm.

Upgraded Engine

A single overhead cam defines the 4.6-liter V-8 muscle engine that delivers 260 horsepower at 5,250 rpm and 302 foot-pounds of torque at 4,000 rpm.

Speed

The 3.8-liter engine achieves 60 miles per hour in 9.9 seconds, while the 4.6-liter engine gets the Cobra to 60 miles per hour in 5.5 seconds. The 4.6-liter engine also reaches one-quarter of a mile in 14.1 seconds.
