Diversity training is training that helps to educate organizations on issues related to race, culture, sex, age, and disability. According to the National Multicultural Institute, diversity training serves not only the function of combating discrimination but can also increase teamwork and productivity.

Facilitators of diversity training must possess the ability to analyze the policies, systems and culture that influence the role of diversity in an organization. In addition, facilitators should have a solid background in issues of diversity, be able create clear goals and objectives, possess skills in managing group dynamics and be able to lead, monitor and evaluate the training.

Different training programs for facilitators are available. These trainings help leaders in the organization to gain a deep understanding of diversity issues as well as develop the specific skills necessary to train others. Trainings for facilitators are available through the National Multicultural Institute as well as the U.S. Office of Personnel Management.
