ADA Coordinator Training
Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) coordinators are administrative employees of government agencies with 50 or more workers charged with complying with the law and responding to complaints. The ADA Coordinator Training Certification (ADA-CTC) program prepares students for taking the online exam required to obtain certification.

Act Interpretation

The program is designed for students to develop an in-depth understanding of the act. Coordinators must learn to conduct themselves as public-entity representatives skilled at complaint procedure.
Classes

Courses in the training program include foundation-level classes like self-evaluation and transition plans, effective communications, reasonable accommodation, emergency preparedness and public rights of way. Participants then need elective courses and can choose from subjects like accessible information technology, disability community issues and K-12 education.

ADA coordinator training focuses on preparing applicants for the duties of this position. According to the DBTAC Northwest ADA Information Center, those duties include to "administer and write self-evaluation of the programmatic barriers in services offered," create a grievance procedure and "transition plan if structural changes are necessary for achieving program accessibility," retaining this self-evaluation plan and making your name and contact information public.
