Microsoft released the Zune 8GB in 2007. The Zune 8GB is available in five colors: pink, black, green, blue and red. Microsoft released a newer version of the Zune in 2009 with larger storage capacity.

The Zune 8GB has a 1.8-inch color display that is made of scratch-resistant glass. The orientation of the display changes depending on what the media player is doing. If the Zune is playing music, the display will have a vertical orientation. If videos or pictures are streaming, then the display orientation will be horizontal. The 18-bit color display has a resolution of 320 by 240 pixels.

The battery life on the Zune 8GB fluctuates depending on how the player is used. If the wireless feature is off, then the Zune can stream music for up to 24 hours and video for up to 4 hours. It takes approximately 3 hours to charge the battery fully.
