Dress up your napkin roll to reflect the holiday seasons!

Cloth napkins rolls are the simplest way to set a table with silverware. This way of presenting silverware is also perfect for picnics, as it is portable and allows you to protect your silverware and keep it clean. Does this Spark an idea?

  1. Collect Materials

    • Choose a cloth to roll your silverware in. There are many materials ranging from cotton, linen, silk and polyester, so choose one that best meets your needs. Ensure that it is machine washable and pick a color that suits your table, or stick with basic white. These napkins vary in size, anywhere from 18- to 27-inch squares. Cloth napkins are more eco-friendly than paper or tissue. Also collect the silverware you would require; generally, one spoon, one fork and one knife.

    Folding the Napkin

    • Take the square napkin and lay it face down on the table before you. Smooth out all creases and edges; iron if necessary. Now fold the napkin diagonally in half to make a triangle.

    Positioning Silverware

    • Rotate the triangle such that the base of the triangular shape is facing you. Now place your silverware, one atop of another in the center of the base, close to the edge.

    Making the Roll

    • Take the left edge of the triangle and fold it to the right, over the silverware. Repeat with the right side, taking care not to crease the edges. Starting from the bottom, tightly roll upward. Add finishing any touches, such as napkin rings or ribbons.
