What Is a Laser Printer Drum Cartridge?
Although many people have dealt with the toner cartridge in their printer, the drum cartridge is a lesser known but integral part in the printing process.
-
Function
-
The drum cartridge in a printer displays the image of what needs to be printed onto the paper, then uses toner to press it on. It is electrically charged to be able to attract the toner and then adhere it to the paper.
Maintenance
-
Drum cartridges may need occasional maintenance. If your printing quality has declined, you may need to clean or replace the drum cartridge. Check your printer's manual for cleaning instructions and for the types of cartridges that work with your printer.
-
Warnings
-
Toner, which is powdered ink, can rise in a fine dust and cause respiratory problems. Always follow appropriate directions when dealing with printer cartridges.
